![]() The Bellroy has fancier and much smaller buckles that use some sort of innovative mechanism. ![]() Whereas the Tomtoc has plastic adjustments, the Bellroy has metal, and the buckle on the TomToc is this unwieldy and huge plastic. The straps are exactly the same seatbelt material, I wouldn't be surprised if they're made in the same factory, but the Bellroy has nicer hardware. The Bellroy feels a bit nicer, more grown up. The TomToc feels a bit more rugged as it's thick nylon, it reminds me of the material my school backpack was made of: bombproof. The outside materials on the bags are pretty similar. Looking from the top and flattening the bags a bit things did look a bit more encouraging, but I still thought going from 4l to 6l should have been +50% and I just didn't seem to see it. I'm not going to lie, at this point I thought I made an expensive mistake. My first reaction was shock: the Bellroy doesn't look that much bigger, in fact it's less wide! I couldn't find any reviews or even pictures comparing these 2 quite popular bags and I can imagine quite a few people in the same situation as me so I thought I'd share my experience as of today, I will update in a few weeks once I've used it more. I'm writing this having received the Bellroy, but I haven't taken it outside yet. At this point I was 100% converted and budget was no longer a concern, so I landed on the Bellroy Venture 6l for the extra size and quality, and because it was on offer for £92. ![]() Within 2 weeks of use, I realized I didn't want to just empty my pockets but be able to carry extra stuff I normally wouldn't so started looking for something bigger without crossing into messenger bag territory. Thanks Gen-Z!Īfter much research, I landed on the TomToc because at £36 it was cheap enough that I wouldn't feel guilty if I ended up not using, yet good enough quality that I wouldn't need to upgrade if I kept it. I've always sort of known I'd like one because I love EDC stuff but it wasn't until recently that sling bags seem to have become common enough that I felt comfortable getting one myself. Backpacks seemed too much of a hassle for daily use, man bags were socially unacceptable growing up. I'm a 30y man and I've never owned a bag before. ![]()
